Tomaba dinero de sus clientes, les dec\u00eda que reportaba ganancias, pero las mismas no sal\u00edan de ninguna operaci\u00f3n sino que proven\u00edan de lo aportado por nuevos clientes, que con su plata pagaban los rendimientos de los antiguos.<\/p>\n<p>Eran dos las condiciones que este estafador precisaba para conseguir su objetivo y continuar con la rueda: que se siguieran sumando clientes a buen ritmo y que nunca muchos de ellos quisieran retirar sus fondos a la vez.<\/p>\n<p>Lleg\u00f3 a ser tan exitoso en lo que hac\u00eda que atrap\u00f3 a clientes en todo el mundo, desde particulares a entidades financieras<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Los desfalcos fueron cometidos a trav\u00e9s de Bernard Madoff Investement Securities, una financiera que fundara en 1960, y utilizando el esquema piramidal ideado por el italiano Carlo Ponzi en 1920.<\/p>\n<p>El sistema necesita cada vez m\u00e1s inversores, ya que si esto no sucede, el sistema cae por la falta de inyecci\u00f3n de divisas, provocando que los inversores &#8220;nuevos&#8221; no reciban ni intereses ni devoluci\u00f3n del capital.<\/p>\n<p>El enga\u00f1o no s\u00f3lo alcanz\u00f3 a instituciones bancarias y grupos inversores, ya que fueron v\u00edctimas tambi\u00e9n fundaciones, obras de caridad y la comunidad jud\u00eda de los Estados Unidos, de la cual el financista era un activo participante.<\/p>\n<p class=\"SubTitulo\">Por qu\u00e9 cay\u00f3<\/p>\n<p>A Madoff las cosas le salieron bastante bien, por bastante tiempo, hasta la explosi\u00f3n de la burbuja inmobiliaria en Estados Unidos, que dej\u00f3 al descubierto el detr\u00e1s de escena de su mecanismo. Entonces la gente dej\u00f3 de tener dinero de sobra, dej\u00f3 de pensar en invertir y quer\u00eda que lo entregado a Madoff regresara a sus manos. El a\u00f1o 2008 fue el principio de su fin.<\/p>\n<p>Entonces su sistema colaps\u00f3 porque no tuvo manera de sostener los reclamos de cada uno de sus inversores, que quer\u00edan su dinero. El propio Madoff colaps\u00f3: al verse sin salida, confes\u00f3 a sus hijos que todo lo que hab\u00eda montado no era m\u00e1s que un fraude y a ellos no les tembl\u00f3 el pulso.
